Even though it was exciting news for Indian fans, many had a question on why he was brought in as a mentor.

Here is the explanation from Gautam Gambhir as he was part of the World Cup winning team in 2007 and 2011 where India has won inaugural T20 World cup in 2007 and ODI World Cup in 2011 under Dhoni’s Captaincy.

Here is the complete Story from the Interview

Gautam Gambhir said it’s a very good story to have but i am sure because his role will be defined you got the head coach, assistant coach and you got the bowling coach.

There has to be something or something from Virat Kohli or from the coach Ravi Shashtri what they would want and apart from what they already have.

India has been very successful in T20 cricket; it is not that India struggled in T20 Cricket.

Had India struggled in T20 cricket they might have got someone from outside.

Probably Ms. Dhoni is and experienced his mindset of handling pressure in those crunch games may be one reason why they got him as a mentor.

Not purely from a skill point of view because these players already got the skill they needed to go out there and deliver.

It is just probably how to handle pressure in those important games because India has actually missed out on those important games, especially the knockout games.

Probably Ms. Dhoni has the experience of captaining the side and handling the pressure in those important games could be a huge advantage for these young players.

You have to remember most of these players are young for example Rahul Chahar, Varun Chakravarthy and for example any of the batters they have not played any of the world cups and i am sure Ms Dhoni will share his experience he added.
