India vs Australia: The report further stated that the stand-in captain Ajinkya Rahane and R Ashwin along with senior players in the team spoke to the two umpires Paul Reiffel and Paul Wilson at the close of play on Day 3, and brought the events to the notice.

There was reportedly a discussion between the umpires, the senior players, and the security official after the stumps on Friday between India vs Australia.

After the complaint was made, the Indian team security official reportedly had a chat with the security officials at the ground and the ICC security officials present at the venue. Sources revealed that the issue rest with the ICC until the global cricketing body takes an action on the complaint.

It is also understood that the International Cricket Council (ICC) has taken note of the matter. Siraj was amongst the wickets on Saturday as he dismissed debutant Will Pucovski for 10 after India were bowled out for 244 in their first innings. Australia ended Day 3 with a lead of 197 runs with eight wickets in hand.

The Indian team has lodged an official complaint after the crowd at the Sydney Cricket Ground racially abused pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj over the second and third day of the ongoing Pink Test between India vs Australia.

While the matter was brought up with the ICC match officials and the security officers at the SCG immediately after the game, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is furious with the happened incident.

Speaking to ANI, a BCCI official in the know of developments said that the Indian cricket board stands with the boys as such behaviour is “unacceptable”.” The ICC (International Cricket Council) and Cricket Australia need to be very responsive to this as the possible alternatives are not very pleasant for cricket, especially during the present circumstances.

The Sydney Test between India vs Australia has now become an acid test for CA interim CEO Nick Hockley and we are in complete solidarity with our boys. Racial abuse is unacceptable,” the official explained. Sources aware of developments in the team said that the bowlers initially brought the matter up with stand-in skipper Ajinkya Rahane before the team went into a huddle with the coaching staff led by Ravi Shastri and decided that this sort of behaviour should not and will not be ignored.

The relationship between two teams has not been good in recent times with Queensland’s Health Shadow Minister Ros Bates’ comments regarding quarantine guidelines for the fourth Test in Brisbane also painting the visitors in poor light.

With questions raised on whether the Indian team would be willing to follow strict quarantine protocols for the final Test of the series at The Gabba, Bates had said: “If the Indians don’t want to play by the rules, don’t come.” She had put out the statement on social media as well and her sentiments were echoed by Queensland’s Shadow Sports Minister Tim Mander. “If the Indian cricket team wants to spit the dummy and disregard quarantine guidelines in Brisbane for the fourth Test, then they shouldn’t come,” Mander said, as reported by Fox Sports. “The same rules must apply for everyone. Simple,” he added.

Australia took an important first innings lead of 94 runs after three Indian batsmen were run out on Saturday as the visitors lost their last five wickets for just 49 runs. Australia lost both their openers cheaply but Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne then added an unbeaten 68-run stand for the third wicket to put the hosts in command of the Test match.

Labuschagne, batting on 47, and Smith, not out on 29, will resume Australia’s second innings on Day 4 between India vs Australia with the hosts leading India by 197 runs with eight wickets in hand.

Prior to this Team India already suffering with two injury blows on Day 3 of the ongoing Test as wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja were both taken for scans after being hit while batting. Pant scored 36 runs before edging one to David Warner in the slips while Jadeja battled through the pain and remained unbeaten on 28.

Now this incident about racial abuse is something really not expected. The kind of friendly environment that was seen during ODIs and T20s matches between India vs Australia is turning out to be completely different in Test.
