India continued their dominant run in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, as they thrashed England by 100 runs in the 29th match of the tournament at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. India, who have won all six of their matches so far, are now at the top of the points table with 12 points, while England, who have lost four out of five games, are languishing at the ninth spot with only two points.

The match was a one-sided affair, as India outplayed England in all three departments of the game. India’s captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bat first, hoping to put up a big total on the board. However, India got off to a shaky start, as they lost Shubman Gill (9), Virat Kohli (0) and Shreyas Iyer (4) within the first 10 overs. England’s pacers David Willey and Chris Woakes bowled with discipline and accuracy, and kept India under pressure.

Rohit Sharma played a brilliant knock of 87 runs off 101 balls, hitting 10 fours and three sixes. He was well supported by Rahul, who scored 39 runs off 58 balls. The duo took India past the 100-run mark in the 23rd over, and looked set for a big partnership.

Malan scored 16 runs off 17 balls, hitting two fours and a six, while Buttler scored 10 runs off 23 balls. But their partnership was broken by Kuldeep Yadav, who trapped Malan lbw in his first over.
