TATA WPL – RCB vs UP Warriors – Match 2, 2024

A Saturday night extravaganza in store in the Tata WPL. Smriti Manthana’s Royal Challengers Bangalore lock horns with Alisa Healy’s UP Warriors.

RCB will be eager to slay the demons of last season with a strong start. Smriti Manthana’s Royal Challengers Bangalore lock horns with Alisa Healy’s UP Warriors.

And all eyes will be on skipper Mandana, who will want to put her dispro 2023 campaign behind her. With Sophie Devine, Elise Perry, and Richa Ghosh alongside Mandana, the home team have the arsenal to exploit the short Chinnaswamy boundaries.

Their opponents, though, are not to be taken lightly. UP skipper Alisa Healy smashed a 47-ball 96 in the first meetings between the two sides last year and will be keen to reopen those meetings.

The Australian headlines a fearsome Warriors batting unit that features the hard-hitting Talia McGrath, Kiran Navkire, and Grace Harris.

And spin twins Sophie Eccleston and Deepti Sharma bring plenty of pedigree and experience to the table.

So where could this marquee clash be won and lost? Mandana struggles against off spin in WPL 2023. And the Warriors could look to exploit this weakness by bowling Deepti up front.

Healy is one of the premier openers in T20 cricket. And the swing of Renuka Thakur could be the key against the Aussie superstar.

RCB’s leaky death bowling was their biggest headache last season. And the Australian powerhouse, Grace Harris, could exploit that weakness in the slog overs.

The tennis for me awaits. Can RCB kick start their season in style in their backyard? Or will the Warriors from Dupuy spoil their homecoming?
