On March 15th 2021, Bcci confirmed the rest of the matches out of 5 match T20I series will be played behind closed doors.

This was announced right after the second T20I match played between India v England at Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera, Ahmedabad.

As you all know the Narendra Modi stadium in motera is the world’s largest stadium in terms of seating capacity.

The new stadium has the capacity of 1,10,000 spectators at a time. Which makes it become the largest stadium in the world.

Many spectators came to watch the Second T20I played between India & England.

It must have been very difficult even for the BCCI to take this kind of decision as cricket has become so popular , people do enjoy watching their favourite players smashing the ball out of the ground or taking wickets at regular intervals.

The only possible reason could be social distancing and keeping in mind the health of spectators and players which may have resulted in taking this tough decision for BCCI and the Cricket Association of Gujarat state.

Official confirmation from BCCI :

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in consultation with the Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) has decided to conduct the final three T20Is against England at the Narendra Modi Stadium behind closed doors. The decision was arrived at following detailed discussions with the state and local health authorities.

The BCCI will continue to comply with all the regulations put in place to curb the spread of the Covid-19 virus and will always put the health and safety of its fans and stakeholders at the top.

Those who have purchased tickets for any or all three T20Is will be refunded and the process for the same will be announced in due course
