In a low scoring game New zealand won the match by 8 wickets and were crowned as first ever WTC champions.
New Zealand had never won any of the ICC trophies in the past and the WTC Championship cup becomes the first ever ICC title for the black caps.
After the post match presentation and in the press conference Captain Virat Kohli spoke about Indian teams performance in WTC Finals 2021.

Whether india need to work on their batting in seaming conditions
The game drifts away too much i don’t think there are technical difficulties as such. I think it’s more down to game awareness and being a little more brave in putting bowlers under pressure and not allowing them to bowl in similar areas for longer periods of time.
Unless it’s absolutely overcast and the ball swings all over the place like it did on day one.
I think outside of that we need to be able to move the game forward and put the opposition under pressure that’s key to playing and performing in difficult conditions.
Captain Thoughts on wicket keeper batsman Rishabh Pant.
Rishabh is definitely going to be a very expressive player whenever he gets an opportunity.
Whenever there is a situation that needs to be understood I think he understands and assesses it very well. When things don’t come off you can say that it’s an error of judgement and that’s acceptable in sports at the same time we don’t want him to lose his positivity and his optimism in changing the situation for the team and that is where his USP lies.

We will definitely continue to back him, play that way and find ways to put pressure on opposition and find ways to score runs which is his natural game. We are not too worried about that. I think it’s up to him to understand where it was an error of judgement and rectify it moving forward because he has a long career with the Indian and certainly someone who could be a match winner on many occasions in future.
Batting suggestion for other Indian players.
I think we are collectively trying to put enough runs on the board as a batting unit.
The mindset has to be to score runs and find ways to score runs you can’t be too worried about getting out because you bringing the bowler into the game completely and not moving the game forward that’s probably the only thing we need to focus on we know that as a batting unit if we consistently put up 300 runs on the board its a different kind of pressure on the opposition with the kind of bowlers we have and we understand that our endeavour is to keep working on those plans and try to execute them everytime that we bat.
